The downtown traffic signals have been under study to determine if removing and replacing them with two-way/four-way stops would be more beneficial. The traffic study determined the signals are not warranted and it would be feasible to replace the signals with stop signs instead. The city would like to go forward with seeing how the intersections function as stops rather than signals. In order to do this, a multi-month test needs to be conducted to collect data and see how the public responds to the change in traffic pattern.
The City anticipates the test will begin June 1, 2023 and will run until September/October 2023. Community input on this proposed change to the traffic pattern Downtown is crucial to determine if this proposed alternative is a good fit for our community.
