I moved to Klamath Falls in 1978 and worked as an administrator and counselor in crisis intervention until 1986, when I opened my own business as a consultant to the non-profit sector in strategic planning, fundraising, grant writing and Board development. I have a BA in social work (University of South Dakota) and a Masters in Management (Public Administration) from SOU. My son Jesse, daughter Elizabeth, and grandson Fletcher are the light of my life.
In 1992 I created a partnership with OIT, Pacific Non-Profit Network and local funders to develop the Grantsmanship Center Library at OIT, a resource for information on grant writing, fundraising, Board development and non-profit management. In the ensuing years I have provided services to a number of local and regional agencies, in the areas of health, human services, the arts, education, civic improvement and economic development. I have raised millions of dollars for local projects that enhance our rural quality of life. As a volunteer, I have served on numerous boards and commissions that provide leadership for organizations and good stewardship of scarce financial resources.
I was elected to the Klamath Falls City Council in 2000, and re-elected in 2004.I have a vision for Klamath Falls and the Klamath Basin that provides good paying jobs for our citizens, educational opportunities for our children from pre-school through higher education, economic development that includes industrial and commercial expansion, and collaboration with regional, state and federal entities to meet our future needs in transportation, infrastructure and public safety. I believe in Klamath Falls, and I believe in giving back to the community that has given so much to my family and myself.
